Evening Scripture: He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20

Friday’s Thoughts

Living outside the States Jamie and I hear different sides of just about everything. Truly, what we believe, and strive to be, is Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control; against such things there is no law.”, Philippians 4:8 “Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” and Matthew 22: 37-40 “And He said to him, ‘you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole law and the Prophets”.

Morning Scripture: The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. – Exodus 15:2

I had the privilege this week to work with a friend in the “red light district” called zona de roja in San Jose.  it really is only by the grace of God that I wasn’t born on the streets and felt I had no other avenue but working the streets to live… Against our stereotypes the women were all shapes and sizes and ages and for that matter sexes.  On the day I went the M.O. was a meal and just to chat and give away the few clothes that they had to donate.  You all,  most of these ladies have it so so hard, I can’t even imagine. We know that God loves them as much as HE loves us.  Our goal is to encourage them and give them the HOPE of Christ.  That should be all our goals to encourage others in our lives and those we come across in life.  Everyone needs to know that someone cares about them  FYI: the picture is just an internet photo.  I won’t be taking pictures of when I serve there =)

Evening Scripture: Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. – Romans 5:2-5

Juan Pablo…

Looking for someone to be a blessing to this season? The bible study group that Jamie and I belong to here in San Isidro has adopted a family in dire need. The family of Juan Pablo is living in a small home in the middle of a field of really tall grass. The landowner is letting them live there for watching the property. Juan has a wife and three children; the oldest of which is five. Juan lost his job as a driver and currently has a stomach hernia; which we hope to be able to get fixed. Juan walks his five year old to school everyday. It is a 1 1/2 hr trip each way in a hilly area.

Our friend, Esteban, found this broken down bike at his work. We would like to get it repaired and give it to Juan so that he can ride his daughter to and from school.

We are also hoping to buy a weed-eater for Juan so that he can hire himself out to clear other’s properties.

On behalf of our bible study group we are asking you to help us help Juan.

The cost of the bike renovation is estimated at $100. A decent weed-eater is just over $200.

It would be great if we could get some household items to help Juan’s wife.

You can donate to Juan through The Journey of 2. Note in our tax-deductible donation ‘for Juan’. You can use paypal @ and there is a button on our wejourneyedsouth blog for paypal. or you can mail a check to P.O. Box 1196 Springerville, AZ 85938

Below is a picture of the bike.

We are choosing not to post a picture of Juan Pablo and his family so that they may remain private.
