monthly newsletter and p.s. happy birthday to my sister

March 25, 2020

Dear TJO2 Supporters,

Welcome to “The Great Time-Out”.  This is what we have decided to call this time in history.

Maybe it’s God’s way of telling the world that we all just need to chill out for a while.  The world, particularly North Americans, have gotten so busy.  This is nothing new.  As Jamie’s former employer use to say to her “Tell me something I don’t know”.  She still gets irritated with me when I say that to her.

As per our norm, Jamie and I tend to search for answers in the Bible.  God told us, through Solomon, specifically, in Ecclesiastes 1:9 “That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So, there is nothing new under the sun.” (NASB)

So, why has God put the world in a time-out?  Again, we turned to the one who knows all.  When and why did God put people/land in time-out?

Our monthly report is not meant to be a Bible Study lesson, so I am just posing the question.

Our monthly report is meant to update the followers of The Journey Of 2 on what God is doing through Ron and Jamie in Costa Rica.

First, it has been hard not going to the Red Zone this month.  We truly care for those God has sent us to minister to.  We are very concerned as to how they are managing.  Our prayers for them seem to be so little.  We think of God’s Word where He says “If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?” James 2:15-16 (NASB) Some may say that us not being there to meet their needs may look like faith without works.  Truly, this constantly weighs on us and all the staff and leaders of Casa Esperanza.

Yesterday, our leaders held a staff meeting, via the internet, to discuss current conditions and options of what we can do to serve those in need.  Before Jamie and I began serving with this ministry, people were trying to find ways to open the eyes of Red Zone ladies and encourage them, show them better ways of financial support and show them salvation through Jesus Christ.

Maybe this “Time-Out” is God showing them they need to pay attention, that people helping them is the row boat.

Second, we truly believe that God continues to direct our steps.  Having us in Time-Out is per His good and perfect plan.  When things happen, to our sadness, we most often do what we can to correct the situation.  I say “to our sadness” because our first reaction is not always to ask God.  Ask God first through praying.  Praying that God will reveal what we should do first.

Before we start throwing in our “but what if’s and we have to do something’s” let’s pray.

I know that some may think that praying is an excuse to just sit and let others do the work.  Praying is not just sitting.  It can be done while doing.  More times than I can count I have prayed, fervently, as I’m going out to do.  To do what I trust He will show me as I am doing it.  As I write this, I pray people will know what I am saying.

Remember what God has already done.  Remember that He has not left us, and He will never forsake us; for our God is not a liar.

Jamie and I are praying.  We are also stepping up our study of His Word.  In addition, we are planning.  We are preparing.  When God says “Okay, go now” we will be as prepared as we have allowed Him to make us.  If we go out to do “His” will, not in our own power, but in His power that He will work through us, for His glory.  We will be unbelievably blessed to be firsthand witnesses.  All who choose to believe.

We’ve learned through our Bible Studies that Halleluiah is Hebrew for Praise the Lord.  Our hearts, minds and souls are continually signing Halleluiah! Halleluiah! Halleluiah!

The Costa Rican government has made it clear that anyone who leaves C.R. who is not a citizen, including those with or without residency, they will not be allowed back.  In addition, all residency applications have been put on hold until May 17.  This will be two months after our 90 visas have run out.

It’s not about the fact that we would have to leave behind all our “stuff”.  It’s about leaving before God has completed the work He plans to do through us here.  We truly believe that God will tell us when its time for TJO2 to move on; just as He did in Roatan.  And its not now.

TJO2 is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit tax-deductible ministry.  If we can obtain residency here in Costa Rica, it will lower our expenses.  Currently, we are struggling to cover our living expenses.   Any donation will be much appreciated. A one-time donation, or, if God leads you to monthly support, that would be great too.  You can use the PayPal option either through our email or blog or mail your donation to:
