Dear TJO2 Supporters,
This past month has been another month of learning, reading our Bible, listening to the Lord, praying, praising, worshiping and recharging.
Praise God, Jamie has completed 4 out of the 5 courses to receive her Teachers Certificate in TEFL. Currently, her grade percentage is at 92.5%. She is working hard to get it back up to at least a 95%. Pray for her because the next big test is 100 questions on grammar.
Jamie and I bought a couple of spools for the apartment. One 30” across and the other 18” across. For those of you who know Jamie, this is just her style. We put the big one in the guest room for a table and the small one is just outside our front door. The hydrangea plant is sitting on it.
We bought them from a guy who lives in the pueblo just east of us in San Antonio. We had taken an Uber to his house and he gave us, and our spools, a ride back to our house. On the way home I asked him if he had watched the soccer game the day before. He said “No, I’m into surfing.” What! I told him I like to surf and that I have a surfboard. He invited me to go with him sometime in the future. Pretty cool.
Jamie has sent out flyers to inform people that she will start teaching in early September. The flyer states the requirements of the class and what days and hours the classes will be. Please pray about this also. We can only fit 4 to 5 students in our office/classroom. Pray that Jamie has discernment from God on which students to accept and that the students will not only learn English but are receptive to hearing and receiving the Good News.
We found the exact shelving we need for the office/classroom. One is a tall corner shelf and one is short set of shelves for under the dry erase board. The only issue is that they must be made and the guy said it would be mid-August before he could build them.
Did I mention last month that we joined a Bible Study? It’s pretty much all Spanish; as is the church we attend. Jamie and I are enjoying both. The Scripture is used heavily at both and we can follow along fairly well because we can look up the book, chapter and verse that is being discussed.
We have less than a month left on our current visas for Costa Rica. Before the end of August we have to leave CR for at least three days in order to renew our 90-day visas here. Due to all the unrest in Nicaragua, the Costa Rican government has put a moratorium on residency applications. That’s okay for now. Traveling from and to CR is not nearly as expensive or difficult as it was in Roatan.
Esteban, and Jamie and I have begun discussing how we can start up the back-pack ministry here. We just began but we are all excited about the opportunity to visit and encourage those in need here. Look for more updates on this by next month.
As always, our prayer for all of you is “The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace” Numbers 6:24 (NKJV).

In two weeks Jamie will be sending out an Amazon Wish List for school supplies that she needs. Games, flash cards etc that she can’t find here. The items will be mailed to a friend’s house in Colorado and they will give us the items.
