Every hand that has built/played/taught at Casa de Luz; every penny donated; every piece of equipment supplied; every prayer spoken from tender hearts to God’s ears….it all weaves together into a beautiful reflection of His love. We appreciate everyone who invests into the future of the kids who attend Casa de Luz and play in La Canchita. For the last several years, Ivonne has volunteered her time teaching/ translating side by side with Jamie inside the classroom. Thank you for serving Ivonne – your love shines bright.

Prayer request

I need some wisdom to deal with a situation at school today…one of our students (a girl) that I brought back this year but was asked to leave last year because of fighting …I saw her bullying another girl on the street. Actually pulling hair, pulling up the girls school skirt…and then taking pictures!!! I approached her yesterday and she said it was just her group of friends that does that there are five friends, and they do it every week to a different girl. I was shocked and like are you kidding, she was not it was just an every day event for her that she saw nothing wrong with. I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with this today that I could use your prayers for wisdom. Cultural or not cultural this is not biblical or Gods cultural…- Jamie

Morning Scripture:

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

Psalms 40:4-5

The Journey Of 2

February 25, 2018

Dear TJO2 Supporters,

As of today we have served God and the people of Roatan Honduras for six years. It has been an amazing journey. I have sent monthly reports each month over all these years that have shared what God has done through us with your help. Every time I sit down to write, I pray that God would give me the words that would truly share the blessing it has been to be this part of the Body; to clearly and fully report about the fruit that has resulted by the supporters of TJO2.

As Jamie and I prepare for our new journey we can’t help but reflect on all that God has blessed us to experience here. There are so many relationships we have began and nurtured here. We have grown to love the people we serve and are honored to have had the opportunity.

We also have been reflecting on all the people we have had the joy of meeting who have come here either individually as part of a team. It is always a thrill to see God working through others. There have been so many that have arrived here thinking they had little to no ability to be a benefit and have left with the realization that God had worked through them to the blessing of someone in need.

May God bless you all who have listened to Isaiah 6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said “Here am I! Send me.”

I have often said, especially to those who think they have no skill, that all you need is to be willing. If you are willing to let God work through you, He will; to the blessing of others and also to you, for it is a blessing to serve.

This past month we have continued the work that God has directed us to do here in Roatan.

The new school year at Casa de Luz started this month. The first couple of weeks are always an adventure in themselves. The returning students have to be reminded of what they learned last year. The new students have to learn how Jamie runs the class. Each year Jamie has gained experience and skill, so she has been able to quickly get the kids settled into the daily routine.

The court boys have really stepped it up the last few weeks. They are keeping the court clean and in as good of condition as they can.

Several weeks ago, Hector hand-picked five boys/young men that he is developing into leaders. Every other Wednesday night Jamie and I host a dinner here at our house and Hector has been teaching them the responsibilities of leading.

When Hector was on the mainland for a week at the beginning of this month, I was very pleased to see that everyone of the five leaders were on the court each day to see that the boys continued to follow the court rules.

This last Thursday I turned the Court Boys Bible Study lead over to Hector. We consistently have 15 to 20 attend each week. It does my heart good to know that each week some of the boys show up specifically for the study; and not just there for soccer.

Praise God, I was able to finish all the winter projects before school started. I literally finished the last project 15 minutes before the first class.

Praying God’s blessings on our supporters from First Baptist Church of Show Low, Arizona. While we were disappointed that they were not able to send a team this year (yet), we were very blessed to receive funds for projects. With these funds we were able to extend the wood decking along the west side of the school. We constructed a roof over the deck. We also constructed roofs over the stairs that lead from the court to the school and from the school to the upper pad. Thank you all so much. All this helps us be more effective in our service; and makes it a much nicer, safer, more functional place for our students and court visitors.

Jamie and I want to thank the Sassenburg Family of Knoxville, TN for helping with a lot of the cleaning and painting; and, as always, a huge thank you to Robert K. for designing and helping construct all the projects.

This next month Jamie and I will be hosting one more team before our time here on Roatan concludes. There’s so much to do and the devil has making some efforts to distract us from our path. Please pray that we not only finish well here, but are prepared to begin again in Costa Rica.

Please, we are asking you to let us know what dates works best for you all in May for us to come speak to your church, bible study, small group, Sunday school class, coffee group…etc, concerning our sharing of the new journey Jamie and I are about to embark on.
